CHANGE YOURSELF, NOT JUST YOUR CGPA: STUDENT CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
In daily life, many Muslim students occasionally miss acts of worship such as prayers or fasting due to the demands of school, university, or other activities. However, Islam provides an opportunity to make up for missed acts of worship through the concept of Lailatul Qada. This night can be utilised as a time for self-improvement and for fulfilling acts of worship that were not performed at their prescribed time. In brief, Lailatul Qada means “the night of replacement” and refers to a night in which a person performs qadha (make-up) acts of worship, such as missed prayers or fasts. Unlike Laylat al-Qadr, Lailatul Qada does not have a specific date and may be observed at any time. It emphasises an individual’s sincerity and determination to make up for shortcomings in worship. Among the benefits of Lailatul Qada is the opportunity to compensate for missed acts of worship and seek forgiveness for past negligence. The calmness of the night also allows students to engage in self-reflection, evaluate their daily practices, and enhance their spiritual awareness. By performing night prayers, reciting the Quran, and engaging in remembrance (dhikr), the heart becomes more tranquil and one’s relationship with Allah SWT grows stronger. For students who wish to make the most of this night, several practices may be undertaken, such as performing missed prayers one by one, replacing missed fasts, increasing remembrance and supplication, and ensuring that every act is carried out with sincere intention to draw closer to Allah SWT. In conclusion, Lailatul Qada presents a valuable opportunity for students to balance academic life with spiritual responsibility. It teaches that despite busy daily schedules, every individual still has the chance to improve, fulfil missed acts of worship, and strengthen their connection with Allah SWT. By making good use of this night, students not only make up for missed worship but also cultivate greater discipline and self-awareness.

ISLAMIC MANAGEMENT: INTERNALISING QURANIC PRINCIPLES AND VALUES
ISLAMIC MANAGEMENT: INTERNALISING QURANIC PRINCIPLES AND VALUES
A special sharing session titled “Islamic Management: Internalising Quranic Principles and Values” was held on 26 February 2026, beginning at 9.30 a.m. at Sudut Read@Uni, Student Affairs Division (BHEP). The session was delivered by Nik Mohamad Ridhwan bin Nik Nasarudin, an officer from BHEP. In this interactive session, he guided participants in exploring the principles and values of Islamic management based on Quranic teachings, including the concepts of trust (amanah), honesty, responsibility, justice, and leadership with integrity. Participants gained insights into how these values can be applied in daily life as well as in organisational administration, ensuring that every decision made aligns with Quranic principles and professional ethics. According to Nik Mohamad Ridhwan, the objective of the session was to strengthen understanding of ethical management grounded in Islamic teachings. He emphasised that internalising Quranic values is not only crucial in organisational administration but also essential in shaping effective, principled, and inspiring leadership. The programme was organised in conjunction with the month of Ramadan as one of the Read@Uni initiatives to provide practical guidance for officers in managing their daily responsibilities in a professional and Islamic manner. The session also provided opportunities for participants to share experiences, raise questions, and discuss contemporary management challenges while upholding Quranic principles as a guiding framework.
